Membrane waterproofing for bathrooms, showers and balconies
Waterproofing

Waterproofing is the part of a bathroom nobody sees once the tiles are down — which is exactly why it gets done properly the first time. Membrane is built up in even coats across the shower recess, floor, hobs and upturns, with adequate cure time before tiling begins.
Every wet area is set out and waterproofed to AS 3740, the Australian Standard for waterproofing of domestic wet areas, so the work holds up to certification and to twenty years of daily use.

Frequently asked
- Yes. Work is carried out to AS 3740, the Australian Standard for waterproofing of domestic wet areas, and a compliance certificate is provided for the finished work where required.
- Membrane needs to fully cure before tiling begins — typically a few days depending on the product and conditions. This cure time is built into the renovation schedule rather than rushed.
- Yes. Balconies, external wet areas and any floor sitting over a habitable space below need the same membrane detailing as a bathroom, and it is handled the same way.
